The Jump GIGA Summer 2024 which was released on Aug 8, 2024 came with an official booklet of Jujutsu Kaisen character Gojo Satoru.

In this booklet, the author of the manga Gege Akutami answered 33 questions about Gojo Satoru, providing more trivia and insights about the character.

Check out the important information that was revealed in the booklet below (translation credits: Soukatsu on Twitter)

General Information

  1. Birthplace: Gojo Satoru was born in Kyoto.
  2. Gojo Family Main House: The Gojo family’s main house is also located in Kyoto.
  3. Language/Dialect: Gojo speaks standard Japanese and is unlikely to switch to a Kyoto dialect. According to Akutami, he was either on missions from a young age or moved to Tokyo early.
  4. Reason for Attending Jujutsu Tech: Gojo chose to attend Jujutsu Tech because he was tired of his family interfering in his life.
  5. Parents: Gojo’s parents are still alive but were not particularly strong sorcerers. They gained a higher position within the family by having Gojo but became distant early on.
  6. Siblings: Gojo is an only child. Although he had many relatives in the Big Three families, he didn’t form close relationships due to his special treatment.
  7. Childhood Incident: Gojo was seen alone by Granny Ogami in chapter 96 because he had escaped his house and was wandering around.
  8. Exposure to Outside World: Despite a strict upbringing as a member of the prestigious Gojo clan, Gojo exhibited a rebellious streak, often escaping the confines of his home.
  9. Pre-Jujutsu Tech Missions: Before enrolling at Jujutsu Tech, Gojo gained substantial experience in combat and exorcism through various missions.

    Jujutsu Tech and Beyond

    1. Uniform Customization: Gojo’s uniform is plain, and he likely did not customize it. Akutami feels he might have been curious about Geto’s customized uniform.
    2. Phone Wallpaper: Gojo used to have a gravure idol as his phone wallpaper but changed it because Ieiri found it gross.
    3. Living Arrangements: Gojo lived in the dorms during his student days at Jujutsu Tech.
    4. Sunglasses: Gojo wears sunglasses to hide his Six Eyes. According to Akutami, it is unlikely he wore them in junior high.
    5. Upperclassmen’s View: Akutami believes Gojo’s upperclassmen found it difficult to interact with him due to his immense power and family background.
    6. Sorcery Training: Gojo’s basic sorcery training was done within the Gojo family, but he had to learn his cursed technique on his own using family records.
    7. Income and Assets: Sorcerers receive regular monthly salaries. As a special grade, Gojo’s salary is equivalent to that of a cabinet minister. He also has significant personal assets as the head of the Gojo family, making him very wealthy.
    8. Thoughts on Quitting: Gojo has likely never considered quitting his life as a sorcerer.
    9. Alternative Careers: It is unlikely Gojo has imagined himself as anything other than a sorcerer. Akutami humorously suggests a freeloading gigolo or sugar baby might be a thought.
    10. Complexes: Gojo likely does not have complexes, except perhaps regret over not being able to stop Geto.
    11. Emotions: Gojo does feel sadness and rage when someone dies, evident when Itadori died. However, Akutami notes that those at the top become resigned to the deaths of comrades.
    12. Joy and Hobbies: Akutami finds it hard to picture what Gojo enjoys most, but meeting talented sorcerers might make him happy.
    13. Language Skills: Akutami thinks Gojo could likely learn English easily.
    14. Alcohol: When Gojo drinks alcohol, he gets dazed immediately, and his cursed technique output starts acting up.
    15. Driver’s License: Gojo probably does not have a driver’s license. According to Akutami, even if he did, he likely never drives.

      On Gojo’s alternate career choices

      Gojo’s Personality and Preferences

      1. Weakness: Gojo’s weakness is his personality.
      2. Intrinsic Strength: Gojo’s most intrinsic strength, aside from his abilities, is his personality.
      3. Cooking: Gojo can cook but does not do it often.
      4. Belongings and Fashion: Gojo is not picky about his belongings. He once bought a ¥250k shirt without checking the price, a habit he likely repeats.
      5. Mountains or Sea: Gojo seems more like a seaside person.
      6. Pets: Gojo appears more like a cat person but probably prefers dogs.
      7. Food Preference: Gojo seems like a bread person.
      8. Handedness: Gojo is right-handed, like most characters in JJK.
      9. Change After Geto’s Defection: Gojo’s sense of nurturing the next generation was born after Geto’s defection.

The booklet also came with Gojo’s daily schedule, which looks very hectic. He only slept for around 3 hours a day, with the rest of his time spent on teaching students and going to missions.

A considerable chunk of his time was also spent on grading assignments and preparing work.

Jump GIGA Summer 2024 featured Jujutsu Kaisen on the cover – a special illustration made by Akutami. It also came with the storyboard of chapter 78 of the JJK manga. It was in this chapter that Gojo and Geto had a clash of ideals, with the latter deciding to go his own way.
