Netflix is under fire after six episodes of the Dandadan anime were leaked online.

Netflix is under fire after the first six episodes of the upcoming Dandadan animation, created by Science Saru, were leaked online

The anime, which is set to premiere in October 2024, was slated for streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll.

The breach was purportedly caused by a server-side hack involving Netflix and a dubbing partner in Asia, and it propagated quickly across other internet platforms

This incident not only harmed Dandadan, but it also resulted in the leak of other anime projects, including as the Ranma 1/2 remarks, Terminator Zero episodes, and the Mononoke movie.

This has raised major questions about the security procedures in place at Netflix and its partners.

Social media platforms have been flooded with reactions from fans criticizing Netflix for its apparent failure to protect unreleased content.

They also urged everyone to refrain from sharing or viewing the leaked episodes as it undermines the hard work of the creators and disrespects the anime community’s standard of waiting for official releases.

Others voiced concerns about the potential impact on the series’ future, with fears that such leaks might affect the show’s viewership, possibly jeopardizing the chances of a second season.

The presence of six completed episodes on Netflix’s servers months before the scheduled release has also raised eyebrows.

Some pointed out that typically streaming platforms receive content in batches closer to the premiere date. The fact that such a significant portion of Dandadan was readily accessible on Netflix’s system raised questions about why such a large portion of the season was available on the server in the first place.

Netflix is yet to make a comment on this matter.
